***NETGEAR*** my router exploded

the router didnt really explode i just wanted to get your attention, I have the Netgear, 54 mbps wireless ADSL firewall routerk, with 4-port 10/100 mbps switch DG834G? whatever that is. well anyway, With wires 2 meg internet is fantastic, however across wireless, it takes minutes to load up websites. Even slower than dial up. We have 2 computers connected. An apple g5 and my pc, which is a quick pc.the internet is extremely slow even when only one computer is surfing. The wireless network bar shows the reception is very good staying mostly at 48mbps. I don't know if there is any gamers here but my ping was well over 800 throughout! please help me!

Are you using encryption? If so test your speed with encryption off, also look into a firmware update for your router as this may help with improving your connection.
Did you try transfering files between the computers on your LAN? Was it slow as well? What is you ping between G5 and PC?
You may also try changing WiFi transmission channel on your router and see if it helps.
