Greetnings:

It was running two months ago when I last checked. There is a flashing green light at the front of the machine but the two green lights in the back do not. Need some guidance on how to troubleshoot this.

The green light on the front indicates power is connected to the system. Is it a fast or slow blink? If you press the big white button on the front, does the green light turn solid? Do the fans spin up? The green lights on the back will not come on until the system is powered on. As described, the system seems to simply be powered off.

The front light of the server blinks about twice per second. I am more interested in learning how to use the 'management port' on the rear of the machine as I am certain that it is not just turned off.

With this port one is supposed to be able to connect to the machine and get an event log. From there, a diagnosis can be made. IBM has some documentation but is not clear. Some guidance would be appreciated

Is there just one light on? I have 2 NF5000's that I am 100% sure are up and running and they have 5 solid lights on the front and 1 flashing light. The flashing light is tx/rx (transmit/receive). The solid ones are power, hard drive, memory, etc. Have another look and see exactly what lights are off and which are on.

Yes, you can connect to the Management port via null modem cable and access the service processor. Complete instructions are available in the Hardware Matenance Manual.
