Hi,

I bought a barebones Netfinity 5000 with 2 P3 600 CPUs.

Firstly will the first CPU actually work in the system with the onboard VRM?

Secondly, can I use the 01K7113 VRM or do I need the 36L8901 VRM for the second processor?

Many Thanks

Stephen

Assuming the server is an 8659-6xY, where "x" may be a number of things, yes, you can use a single 600MHz CPU with the onboard VRM. If it's an 8659-1xY - 8659-5xY, no you can't. There is not an upgrade path to support a 600MHz or faster CPU in those models. The correct part number for the 600MHz VRM is 36L8901.

Thanks catorze, got everything up and running with the 36L vrm.
