I have run RedHat 7.0,7.1,7.2 successfully on this same server for many months. Installed Redhat 7.3, and it freezes up in KDE (or any X) after 10 secs to 4 minutes. Requires a hardware reset/power off to get any response. Seems to be happy at the command line interface forever.

Anyone have any idea what it might be?? The XFREE86? driver?
These servers run the CT69000 video chip which has not been a problem before.

Are you running a different version of XFree than before? That's about the only thing I can think of. Usually when there's a problem you'll get some kind of segfault and a message behind it.

Anything in the log files that you can see?

I have the same issue, but have yet to resolve it? Can anyone help?

If I find out how to resolve the "lockup", I'll post the resolution here.

Ahh - finally - I found the problem. JrJuliliano is half correct. You need to modify the XConfig-4 file - not the XConfig file and remove the accel option along with the bit pass, etc. Send me an e-mail at webmaster@chubchub.com and put a subject of "IBM Netfinity and RedHat 7.3" and I'll send you the file and give you more detailed instructions.

What a relief to have it working now...

It's me again - TheBegbie- this time I'm not a vistor. Sorry for the confusion.

Many of you have written me e-mails asking how to solve this problem.

As I stated before, I modified my XConfig-4 file and I have a copy of it below.

Notice the REMARKED sections compared to your XConfig-4 file that is giving you trouble.

Hope this helps you! Enjoy!
