I ran netdiag and all seems to pass except I get the following error:

DNS test . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Passed
[WARNING] The DNS entries for this DC cannot be verified right now on DNS
server 192.168.5.50, ERROR_TIMEOUT.
PASS - All the DNS entries for DC are registered on DNS server '192.168.1.100
' and other DCs also have some of the names registered.

Anyone know what this means and how to correct it? I am using AD integrated DNS, secure updates only. Thanks.

Is this a valid DNS server on your network? 192.168.5.50

if not, remove the IP address from the TCP/IP settings of all machines.

If it is, check to make sure the DNS service is started and running. Also, you can perform NSLOOKUP to this server to see if it is responding to DNS queries...

Yes it is a DNS server on my network. nslookup is working fine and the service is running. Everything appears to be fine except this error. Any ideas? Thanks.

You'll have to change the server address using NSLOOKUP to verify the DNS queries are being resolved using the 192.168.5.50 server.

CMD

NSLOOKUP (This will start the NSLOOKUP utility)
server 192.168.5.50 (This command will set the default server)

Now type a server name and see if it resolves....

I would check to see if the DNS service is started on the 192.168.5.50 server...

Yes nslookup is working and the DNS server is resolving. But the problem is that I still get the error in netdiag.

Is that correct Gizmo35? Excuse my typo :)

But the problem is that I(meant YOU) still get the error in netdiag.

Are there any clues in Event Viewer?
