Hi,
I am currently testing Netbackup DataCentre 4.5a on Solaris 8 with a DLT Tape Library with 3 DLT Tape Drives. This Sun Master/Media server had a Gigabit interface. The clients are various Sun Servers on different network.
I noticed that the tape backup speed varies at unpredictable rate. At times, I seeing thruput of 4-5Mbs, but on the other, I am seeing only 345kbs.
One scenario goes like that
Client A backup on tape drive 1 at 4Mbs.
Client B backup on tape drive 2 at 3Mbs.
Client C backup on tape drive 3 at 675kbs.
Even when Client A and B finished its backup, Client C still continue at 675kbs. Client C network is not slow because I have previous trials when its backup is consistently at 5Mbs. My question is whether there is a way to maximise the thruput of tape drive under Netbackup? Netbackup does not seems to be able to dynamically optimise its tape drive/network thruput.
Thanks and regards
cavie
