Hi,

ive NB6 running on Windows 2003 Server.
I backup about 10 Servers to Disk then duplicate it to
tape. Works fine so far.

But sometimes the NB Catalog Bakcup fails.

Then i cannot open the catalog of our Fileserver. Our Fileserver is the biggest with about 400GB to backup.
For the others i can open the catalog but always for the FS its corrupt.

bpdbm -consistency
hangs when it comes to the FS catalogs.

Any Ideas why this can happen? Its not everday, but last 2 days. Result is: i cannot restore anything. I think ive to make a new catalog file, which takes hours to go.

the nb catalog backup is configured to a network share on a server.

thanks,
marcus

Do you have Netbackup support? I'd call them for sure, as this is a major problem.

It's going to be hard for someone here to diagnose your problem without logs.

so you saying that you cannot lookup any imgaes for client's you've backed up?

Do you have any good catalog backups?

Have you ran out of disk space before?? Went 100% on the file system that the Netbackup catalog resides on?

Hi,

well it worked for weeks now then it failed. Then i recovered an old catalog and it worked again. But now the Catalog Backup gives me an error.

I backup about 15 server, but on our main Fileserver it hangs. that means, for 14servers i can access the catalog, but for the fileserver that seems to be corrupt.

bpdbm -consistency hangs when it comes to that catalog.

But the backup itself was succesful at this server. How can i recover the catalog or what to do, when i recover some files now?

Ill make a call at Veritas.

marcus
