Hello.. I'm experiencing the following:

Master Server: WIN2003, NB 5.0MP1
Client: WIN2003, NB 5.0MP1

When attempting to connect to the client via Host Properties, I am receiving an error stating "invalid error number".

Logs on the client under bpcd state:

Logs on the Master Server under bprd state:

13:15:51.950 [5348.4968] <2> bpcr_connect: bpcr_connect timeout during select after 60 seconds on port 737

I also have a log entry stating:
nb_getsockconnected: unable to connect() to gdot-go-cyfin, No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
bpcr_connect: Can't connect to client gdot-go-cyfin

any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

MAke sure the NBU client service is started on client.

Make sure the master server is listed in the clients Servers tab.

It's been my experience that Netbackup requires proper DNS resolution before being able to connect to clients. Make sure that works from your master server first before troubleshooting the Netbackup portion.
