Does anyone know why or how to fix .Net Framework 2.0 not showing in the control panel?

Ive uninstalled 2.0 & 1.1 and reinstalled them on 2 machines but 2.0 just will not show. However on others they show fine.

All WinXP Pro SP2

Not sure if it makes a difference, but try installing the .Net 1.1 Service Pack update before installing 2.0 as a workaround. There were issues in 1.1 without the hotfix that could be related.

cdogg,

thanks for that Ill try it later. Only problem I can see with it being this is that these machines had 1.1 on them for 6-12 months before I tried to install 2.0 so all updates should have been applied then but you never no...

OK. To know if you have the hotfix installed, you should see an entry like this in Add/Remove Prog:
Code:
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903)

You may also want to try what is suggested here:

It appears that .Net 2.0 beta had issues when it first came out including not being seen in the Add/Remove list, and perhaps it was loaded on these PC's in the past. Hopefully the cleanup tool gets it off completely allowing you to try another fresh install of .Net 2.0. Microsoft points out the importance of getting rid of beta versions first:

Microsoft said:
IMPORTANT: If you have installed previous pre-release versions of .NET Framework v2.0, such as Beta 1, Beta 2 or Community Technical Preview (CTP) builds, then you must uninstall these versions via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel before installing this final release version.
