Like the subject states, I will be taking my Network+ exam this Monday...tommorrow, so I am wondering two things. Firstly, Is there any of you guys who have taken it using the 2002 objectives? And Secondly, How was it??

I have been studying my a$$ off for the past 6 months for this. Ok I know that quite a while for a test like this, well my studying has pretty much only included using Exam Essentials 6,(cracked). Which I am getting a consistant upper 80's range on every 72 questions I take.

I have also been a Senior PC/Network Tech for my company for the past 3 years as well, which is where I have picked up most of what I know. BTW, Can anyone tell me a rough estimate as to who many corps are still using token ring? I thought that stuff has died out with the advent of 100baseTX.

Thanks for letting me rant!

I wrote the Net+ a couple weeks ago. Out of 72 questions, I think I got 5 or 6 wrong. The A+ exams were more difficult than the Net+ exam.

Most questions were pretty straight forward. Frankly, I think I had to stop and think for about 20 of the questions so I wouldn't get too worked up over the exam.

My advice? Make sure you understand NetBIOS name resolution. I had a couple questions related to moving a WinNT system from one segment to another and what effect that would have on its ability to resolve NetBIOS names (or other systems resolving its name).

Remember, you can MARK a question then go back later and change your answer so feel free to skip ones that are hard and answer them at the end. In the time alloted, you should have no problem finishing.

I have relatively little networking experience (I built and maintained a peer-to-peer network that didn't even use a server) and passed easily.

Thanks for the reply, Like whe I took the A+, I think I studied for like 5 months. About half a dozen times I would think that I was ready, but chicken out at the last minute. I dont know but the thought of blowing $207 bucks is a scary thing...plus with your wife looking on it's double!
But I did pass the A+ with almost no memory of any thing regarding most commonly used IRQ/DMA ranges and their respective hardware components.

Well I took the test about 2 weeks ago and I thought it was really simple actually. I figured it would be much harder, but it was straight forward and I wouldn't worry to much about it. As far as token ring networks, they are few and far between in today's world but they are still used. Oh and just another thing as far as the price of the exam goes...go to Marcraft and you can get a free voucher for the test.

Wel I passed it, with an 813. It was kinda easy I thought, but there were a few things that I didnt study for. But I did pass it finally!

Way to GO!

Thanks Man!

BTW, your S+...Server or Security? And if you had to take one or the other next whihc one and why??

thanks!!!

Server+ (beta tester). Either one is considered an advanced level cert. Server+ is aimed at the technician with two years SERVER experience. It's no walk in the park. Security+ is on my plate. I'll probably sit for it by years end. I've got a voucher that expires 12/30/03. Again. security is not an area of novices.

Well over the past 3 years I have lived through 4 FP downages, and actually this Saturday night we're going to another planned downtime, (Swapping a single CPU Proliant3k for a dual CPU 3k), I've been responsible for a little over 50 users (network accounts, exchange accounts, home directories, shares of all kinds, printing issues; and hardware issues involving Remote Insight boards, raid controllers, external arrays...quite alot more than I probably should have had to do)

But thats why I ask guru's instead of figuring it out for myself. But right now it's a toss up between Server+ and CCA. I already have the Exam Essentials for server+ and some exp...but CCA sounds good too...cant make up my mind.
