Have an F50 with 1 built in network card and 4 NIC card. We use all the 4 NIC card until yesterday it stops responding. Cannot ping itself.

I do the following :

1. Did an lsdev - Cs pci all card were available. (en0, en1, en2, en3, en4).

2. did alog -ot boot and everything seems to be ok when it boots up the system.

3. I tried to remove the definitons from the odm and recreate it one by one on the smit and still the same? I also check the loopback but seems to be ok.

I tried to removed the 4 NIC card and bring it back again but still the same cannot ping ip from itself.

What I cannot understand is 10 base works fine but 100 base T cannot? Now, temporarily I used the 10 base and its really slow.

Can anybody has some idea???

Hope for any reply....

Thanks

Is your 10 Mbps connection on the same card? Is it one of those IP addresses?

I used temporarily the built in 10 Base T of F50. I detach the 4 NIC card because I cannot make it working...

What is the output to the 'ifconifg -a' and the 'netstat -nr' commands?

Can any body please help? I would appreciate your prompt reply...

thanks,

Problem could be with the Switch or Hub to which you
are connecting these 4 NIC cards. In many cases I have
seen that if the UTP cable connected to NIC is bad or
loose it will not only stop pinging outside but self
ping will also not happen. Suggest you to check on Cable and Switch side for Speed, autonegotiation, duples or the
UTP cables attached to NIc cards.

If you see at the /etc/hosts I have 192.9.100.1 for server01 which is samely configured to server02 and is connected to the same hub. My question is why I dont have any such problem with my other server???
