Need UK phone line info

Sorry, not strictly an Avaya question but I have seen and received a lot of good responses from fellow techies in the UK.

We are setting up an office in London that will be another media gateway on our Media Servers here in Dallas Texas. They are asking me about phone lines now. Typically we get a PRI for each office. They don't need all of the trunks but it is what they do here. I believe I could get by with 4-5 analog lines but I need to get some pricing. None of our vendors here in the USA can provide the services so I am trying to figure out who to contact who can provide local services. I searched the Internet but all I can find are companies selling Internet phone service.

Also, if anyone has a cheat sheet on ordering and or configuring lines in the UK I would really appreciate a look at it.

Contact BT and get pricing on an ISDN10, ISDN20, and ISDN 30. These are similar to PRI's.

They also provide POT's service.

As already stated, contact BT (British Telecom).
It would probably work out cheaper to get an ISDN30e (PRI), they start with a minimum 8 channels and obviously can increase up to 30 channels.
You will also be able to order DDI numbers, either Single numbers or in blocks depending how many you need. By default BT send 6 digits to your switch so if you want it to be any different then specify at time of order.

There is also BRI
I would never ever use analog trunks
Why ? because we are not used to, only at home
BRI is 2 channels 64k
PRI is good, like said in different flavors
Here in europe it is a lot better, now the providers need to be more flexible

I work in the UK, so I'd go for the PRI (ISDN30). Re-post if you go for this option, and I'll post the DS1, Signalling and trunk setups for you.

Thanks, I am working on an order for the ISDN30 starting with 8 channels. I would appreciate seeing the configs you mentioned.

I am also trying to figure out the Ofcom numbering plan to set up the ARS table and routes. We use six routes for each site; local, long distance, international, toll free, emergency and blocked. Then we use COS and ARS to determine whether a particular phone should be allowed to call long distance and international. This is to stop LD call from phones in public locations.

So far I have the 999 and 112 numbers for emergency. I think 08 or 080 is toll free but I am not sure about 084 and 087. It looks like some local calls in London need the area code dialed, if the subscriber number starts with 0, but I don't know if everything in 020 is a local call.

Thats all just to show that I am trying to figure it out. It would help to see a sample ARS table from a London location.
