I need to move some extensions from one phone switch to another. Heres my problem. All but one of our phone switches are G3csiv6. The switch that I need to move extensions to is newer than all our other switches. Its G3csiv13. The old switches, I use the command ch udp then the extension. I can specify indvidual udp codes per extension if I wish, or one udp code for a range of extensions. The new switch doesnt allow the command change udp. You have to use the command change uniform-dialplan then extension. When I do that the screen is foreign then the way I was use to moving the extensions, I dont see how I can specify the udp codes per extension. I thought I would be able to browse through the udp table that shows the other switches udp code and the range of extensions to use for there switches like I can do with the old switches but I dont even see them in the new switch, so how does the switch no that this extension goes to that particular switch?

we use UDP for our fax lines, routing them to right fax,, also need AAR in the mix..
we define the extension for the fax machine, then insert 3 digits, "333". then the aar analysis takes all numbers to 333 and sends it to a route pattern, in this case route pattern 23, that route pattern sends the call to trunk group 4 which is the trunk group for our rightfax server..

I don't know if this is what you are looking for or not..
I suppose you could also use digit conversion if you just needed to change one ext. number to a different one..

I've never done it that way, the way I've done it seemd less involved in the older version switches, id just do a ch udp and extension and change the udp code to the corresponding building and then that users extension was now at that building.

well, I think you can do that..
if your ext plan was 4 digits, you could delete 4 digits, and insert the 4 you need...
I am not sure what you mean about udp code though...

(don't really work with multiple switches,,, just figured it would be the same idea as routing the calls to a specific trunk)
what about playing with aar digit conversion?
how are buildings/switches connected?

PhoneTeck, what are the udp codes for your other switches? As Zen216 stated, you'll need to use aar. If you could post the setup, we could probably steer you in the right direction.

In the older switchs, the UDP code is what is setup in the aar tables. Once you setup you location it is realy easy to move ext. around
