Hi Guys.
One of my sites. (I'm on site right now, flying out tomorrow)has a Merlin Magix CK-E5 processor, Release 3.0.

We've changed the default password on install, but have not documented it correctly. We can't get back in via SPM on dial up!

I came to site with a 355AF adaptor to connect without requiring a password. However, we will need to connect to this site via dial up once I leave.
How can I reset the password, if I don't know the current password?
I've tried to back up and restore, thinking it might default out the password but no go, when I restore, it restores the password from my translations.

I need help, I leave here at noon tomorrow. Any feedback would be helpful. Please note, I don't need to know the default AVAYA passwords, I already know them, I need to know how to restore the processor back to something I can work with. Thanks, cpF

The only way you can change the password is by being connected by way of the 355 adapter and your PC's serial port.

But wait, that's how you are connected now.

So, all you need to do is go to STANDARD SPM and use the PASSWORD command.

It doesn't care about the OLD PASSWORD, it just asks you to:

ENTER NEW PASSWORD

Let me know if this helps.

the 355AF is being airmailed out tomorrow. The db9 to rj-45 I had was no good. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks. cpF

Myself or someone else can send you the pinout for the 355AF if things get dicey. In a pinch, you could run to Radio Shack and make one with our help. There's a lot of talent on this board that's ready to assit; don't worry about a thing.

Thanks Everyone. The 355AF showed up this morning - worked great. You're correct, when logged in via serial port, you can just change the password without knowing what the current password is. Awesome.

I'll make my noon flight! Thanks again. cpF

you could have done a print of the system setup and would have told you what the password was. Glad to see that you are all set though.
