Hi

Can anyone help with this one please.

We have a system with two partitions on the hard drive and some how there is a "Program Files" folder on each partition, with programs running from both folders.
My boss wants the two partitions running as one, as we are running out of space on drice c:, I was going to use Partition Magic to do this, but didn't know how to make all the programs run from just one "Program Files" folder on the C: drive?

I hope that makes sense?

Many thanks

Craig.

Third party software, such as you mention, should allow you to Resize either Partition by taking space from the other Partition. That way you could keep both Program Files in their current location.

Search for "Resize" on this site if your current Partitioning programs does not offer it.
Terabyte Unlimited

In either case make sure all valuable data is backed up before attempting a Resize procedure.

As to merging the Programs Files folder, the only way I can think of doing that is uninstalling programs and re-installing them to the correct location. All the links to the Program Files will be set in the Registry and it might be messy trying to fix them all and move programs and files around the place.

Another choice is to recover space by cleaning up your hard drives.

Hi Linney

Many thanks for your help.

I had a feeling you were going to tell me that I couldn't merge the two program folders.

Partition Magic will allow me to resize the partitions, so that's what I'll do and keep both program file folders.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers, Craig.
