I just bought a ultra 5 off Ebay. It came with Solaris 8 loaded already. But i dont have any of the Usernames or passwords for it. How can i get past this.

Need to figure out how to get past the log In

You can use the 'stop' key in conjunction with 'a' to bring the machine to the openboot ('ok') prompt, then insert the install cd. Type "boot cdrom" at the prompt... go through the install until it gets to a point where one of the buttons is 'exit'. Select 'exit'. In the console window make a directory called 'a'. Mount the current filesystem to the new directory 'a' using the mount command. Then use vi to edit the shadow file (usually, in this case, /a/etc/shadow) and remove the root password. Save the file, eject the cdrom, and reboot the machine.
