Hi,

Running an older software version of Avaya IP Office System. Help> About is scrambled. I did see Version 1 March 2004 listed somewhere when opening an app.

I'm not well versed in phones. I did do a search before posting.
If this question has been answered before, please point me to the posting.

I would like to shutoff auto answer on some or all phones in our building. The phones are Avaya 4412D+.

Problem is, we have certain people who like to call/page/beep-in an extension and get immediate attention, but there's also the fear of them listening in to conversations. I just want to be able to give certain employees the option of preventing someone from just calling an extension and opening the line. I would like the calls to ring the extension or go to voicemail if not answered.

I've tried DND, but that essentially prevents anyone from calling direct.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Vince

In the users Short Codes - do you see *DCP 40000000,0,2,2,0 CW or something to that effect?

if so, delete it, merge.

Thanks for your reply Hairlessupportmonkey,

I see under my phone settings:

Code: DCP Tel #: 0,0,1,1, Feature: CW Line Grp: 0

Under the offending user:

Does not have a setting starting with DCP in the Short Codes.
Only has FDW0, which looks like a forwarding setting.

Can I clear the DCP line from the Short Codes?
Just want to verify before deleting.

Thanks again,

Vince

What kind of phones are you using, on 4400 sets, HFAns can be turned off from the menu on the phone.

The handset is 4412D+.

HfAns is turned off on the phone.
Removed the settings from the management console.

Deleted:
Code: DCP Tel #: 0,0,1,1, Feature: CW Line Grp: 0

I can still intercom into my phone from another handset.

Maybe it takes time for the settings change to take effect? It's been a few hours. Does everyone need to be off the phones for a given amount of time before it will update?

Thanks,

Vince

the hands free is for the person being called. As long as it is off, the calling party can call, but can't hear anything until the person turns on the mic, or pics up the handset.

That might be the case in some installs, but here in my building, the mic is on when someone uses intercomm. I can hear what is being said in the remote room.

There has to be an on/off switch somewhere. My co-worker can intercomm into my phone, but when I intercomm to his, it rings as normal.

Thanks for your help so far.

press menu (might have to scroll or press menu again)
find HFANS and uncheck it (HandFreeAnswerOnIntercom)
except if your co-worker has a special button setup to do it from the phone and then you can't influence it but then he/she would call every extension like that.

I figured it out.

From my phone, I was not able to use Intercom to handsfree into someone else's phone. However, everyone else could from another handset. I checked the setting and found that phone settings with "dial intercom' on a button allows this to happen.

To prevent someone from using the dial intercom, it must be removed from the offending part or all phones.
