Hi!

The old DOS FP app that I am moving to VFP 6.0 includes a report that is printed on a wide carriage Okidata (dot matrix) printer. I have used the Report Designer for all of the other reports but am stuck on that one.

Can I use the Designer to get 220 columns on the page?

I am considering getting the VFP Report Writer 7/8/9 but wonder if it would be helpful since I am still using 6.0. This is the only book I have found on the subject.

I would appreciate any info you will share with me.

In the vfp8 report designer if you select legal paper, whole page, landscape mode, and use 8 point you have room for about 170 characters or about 12 characters per inch wide of printable paper -(i was using laserprinter setup)

how wide is the paper in the wide carriage? if its wider than 14 inches this method might work.

Im sure there is another work around somehow as everything was once based on 254 character wide reports off of mainframes

Thanks WJWJR,

The paper they are using is 14" greenbar, but after reading your response I realized that legal paper is the same size if I landscape it. I had not thought of that. So what I anticipated being a 'big' problem is not really.

Thanks for your reply.
