I initially set up a computer with w2k server and AD for testing on the LAN. It was called server1.companyname.com.
Since I was new to w2k servers, we hired a consultant and he set up a new server that we are now using. He set it up as FS1.companyname.com. So both servers were online at the same time during the installation of server FS1. Once FS1 was operational, SERVER1 was shut down.
I've been cleaning up the consultant's mistakes ever since. I get an error message in an Event Viewer log because the AD still lists SERVER1 as a domain server and wants to communicate with it, and I cannot just delete it. I get a message stating that the DSA object cannot be deleted. How do I get this non-existent domain controller out of AD?
