I'm using Crystal Reports 8.5 and Macola 4.00.4. I have some new reports designed that need to be inserted into the Macola menus. I'm not very familiar with Macola, so I need step by step instructions on how to do this.

TIA

4.00.4 is not correct. Where are you getting this version #?

Are you using Macola Progression or Macola ES? If you are using ES the most current version is relesase 360 v4.0.0.321

If you are using Progression, your version should be 7.5x or 7.6x. The full version and service pack should be provided, ex: 7.6.300c

You cannot modify the Macola ES menu's. If you've modified a current Macola ES crystal report you would need to copy it to each computer in the c:\program files\exact software\rpt folder. Make sure you have another copy on the server in case the modified one on the workstations get overwritten during an update.

Another definite drop in functionality from Progression. One option is to store customized reports in a separate folder on the server and provide shortcuts via the desktop. If you modify one of the 'canned' reports ongoing maintenance and re-distribution can be a PITA.

When I do this I copy the report I want to modify to another folder on the server and modify it there. You can then create or modify the startup script to copy the files from the server folder to the workstation at startup.

If you need to change a report, or the workstation client is updated/reinstalled, the reports will be updated the next time the user logs on.

The ability to add reports and other things to the menu was promised for the ES spring release, but that is here and no go yet. You can do it on your own, but it is a real pain, and I would go with the out side option, or if you have flex, use a menu option that is flex enanbled to be a reporting lanch pad.

Do you have some examples how to do this? In the print ticket screen I want it to pull up a customized crystal report that I created with using the order numbers that I inputted into the screen. I can create a button in that, and I am knowledgeable with flex/vba but not sure how to accomplish this one.

The simplest way is to use the Shell command behind the button you create.

Other alternatives are to create a userform and put a crystal viewer control on it. Then using code load the report, You can choose to send the parameters or have the viewer ask for parameters.
