Need to Activte a DN on a Nortel BCM50 1

I am an IT guy who has gotten the phone system administration assigned to me. I have some background in phone systems but its very limited. The owners soft phone started giving licensing errors, I assigned another active DN that wasn't being so he could use it while out of town and this got him running. Well when trying to go back to figure out why the other DN was getting licensing errors his soft phone would not reconnect to the old DN. I disabled the new DN that wasn't being used before to see if that would allow the other DN to connect but it still would not. Now I can not figure out how to re-enable that DN or make it active again? Any help would be appreciated.
 
you need to deregister the extn number first.

The soft phone should then try and connect and will ask you for the New DN number.
You can re-enter the old one or a new extn number.

Go to Telephony resources-click on ip sets-and the bottom of the screen opens up..
In there you can see all the ip phones assigned and registered.
Click on De register.
 
I checked this and found that the orginal extension was still registered but not the new one I thought he was using.
