Hello, I am using Verizon DSL w/my Win98 desktop and Westell 2200 modem. I have a new laptop home from work for just the next two days (not my laptop) and need an internet connection. Do I need to run the Verizon install CD and then play with tech support or is there a workaround?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

FYI - per Verizon tech support (fast and accurate by the way),
once the modem is configured, it's a simple matter of taking the usb cable from the desktop and plugging it into the laptop. Voila!

Will this also work for BellSouth DSL and VPN?

It should. Simply disconnect from the old and plug it into the new. I would reboot the new before trying the browser.

do you guys use pppoe with verizon?
there should be no issue ever over which pc is connected to the network whith this authentication..
the only time i have ever seen an issue was with a cable provider that would not let go of the dhcp leases.. and would not issue a new ip to a different mac address. that was resolved by calling them and they manually realeasd it
