Does Cisco guard the PDM from people? My company is evalutating a PIX 515 from a vendor, but we are having trouble getting stuff from them. Like the PDM, and Cisco's Univerial VPN client (if thats actually what its called). I would like to get the PDM, but I am trapped in voicemail hell, if its not breaking any rules, can someone send it to me? caryfields@hotmail.com

Thanks

HI.

I know exactly what you mean but I cannot help you with that.
If you send the dealer the pix back telling him you demand what you should get, things may go a bit faster.

Anyway, for the initial configuration task, you can use my pixcript utility:

I've used your Util, it's great. Just wanted to use the PDM for the access-list's.

In order to get any software from Cisco you need to purchase a support contract. Depending on what category your Cisco product is determins the price you have to pay. After you get the contract in the mail you need to register the contract on Cisco's site. Once you register you get a CCO ID that gives you access to all the software available for your product.

Caryfields,

What Version of the IOS do you have? You may have the PDM, but setting it up is kind of a trip.

If your PIX has version 6.0 or later you can go into the configuration menu of the PIX (configure terminal) and type setup. If PDM is already installed the prompts will appear to configure the PDM software.
