Can someone please help!! I am 'addicted' to Sidekick 95! I still have it on my laptop (Win 98). My PC is only recently upgraded to XP Home - and it will not load!! Would Sidekick 99 work?? Starfish Site is 'no longer'!! Can anyone help me get Sidekick 99?? Will it run on XP??

Thanks in anticipation!!

Thank you so much for your prompt and helpful reply. I went to the site and downloaded the 5 - zip files. I do not have a floppy drive on this machine - so unzipped them to a CD. I started install.exe of disk 1. This worked OK - but I could get no further! I'm very disappoined with myself. But thank you so much anyway!!

Since I am Having the technical problems I described above - can anyone tell me where I could buy a CD That would Install a version of Sidekick to XP Home.

Thanks!

Dear jessal10,
Don't bother to put them on a CD, just put them all into one folder on the desktop.
But make 7 folders within that folder calledd Disk1->DISK7
THEN
Extract the first download into the folder called Disk1
Extract the 2nd download into the folder called Disk2
Extract the 3rd download into the folder called Disk3
and so on until all the parts of the downloads are extracted into their respective folders Disk1->Disk7

Then go into Disk1 and Double Click on Setup.exe
The install should proceed.
Failing that: go back to the site you downloaded the files from and check out the heading on that page that describes how to get the CD.

Dear Jim,
Thank you so much for trying so hard to help! I have carried everything out to the letter (pretty sure) - more than once. I'm just not getting there!! Made separate folders for each disk, as you said - opened the folder for Disk 1 - clicked SetUp.exe, which loads up to 15% - then I can get no further! Is there nowhere I can purchase a CD of a version of SideKick that will run in XP??

Thanks again,

Jess.

This may come a bit late. By now, you may have recd. the CD for install programs. However, I had the same problem a year ago. Changed from ME to XP Home. Like you, I had years of very valuable SK Clutter that I didn't want to lose.

JT's advice convinced me to change over to SK 98 rather than SK99. Surf the FAQs and postings here for reasons why 98 is less flawed than 99.

My conversion of all data from SK 95 to SK 98 was perfect. I strongly recommend going to SK 98 (Rather than staying with SK 95 or going to SK 99.)

Worked for me. Good luck!

Thank you, Rich 224422. No - you are not too late - and I accept your advice about SK 98! All I need to know now is where I could acquire a CD of SK 98! Any ideas?

Thanks again!
