Need result of aggregate function on form using DAO

This seems to be an easy one but I can't find what I'm looking for. Can anyone provide the syntax to reference the result of an SQL statement that uses an aggregate function with DAO?

SELECT SUM(Cost) FROM table...

I want to update the value of a text field on a form but am not sure how to reference or get the result of "SUM(Cost)" from this query.
