Proposals have been presented by Avaya to upgrade one of customers remote sites presently a Small Mini Opt11 (SSC) Rls.4 offering the PASS sales/upgrade path

The options are to make it CS1000E CPMG Cab/Chassis
Media GateWay or CPDC Signalling Server Rls7.5

From the Intersite set up presently ITG's that'll end up SIPTrunks aswell already using on main site SigSvr Rls5.5 upgrade to be included to Rls 7.5 aswell & SIP Licences

Anyone had exposure on upgrade path to Rls 7.5 CPDC/SigSvr Card install...Any info greatly appreciated my friends

Cheers !!

Personally I would do the CPDC 7.5 and steer away from the Nortel-based CPMG chassis as we have had lots of random reboots of MGs and the cards within (MC32S mainly). Our TekTips vendor said that he has seen NO RANDOM REBOOTS on 7.5 and in my experience Avaya is less data traffic sensitive where as the CS1000E ELAN is very sensitive so you have to be extra careful protecting it with ACLs.

On top of this the CS1000E will be End of Life around 2015/2017 (mixed opinions I have read on that). So it seems to me the better future-proofing route is Avaya. Sorry if that is news you didn't want to hear. I did have some bad experiences with Avaya at another corporation but I think that is mainly because it was brand-spanking new VoIP running on Cisco network. Seemed to be half network issues/25% Avaya issues/25% just being new VoIP to the company.

@Tman45. I think the useage of "Avaya" in SL1M1's original posting refers to the fact that you cannot buy any enterprise products from "Nortel" any more after they sold that division to Avaya. Any products or support that you get now comes from Avaya.

I hear what you say Tman45 and the inevitable Avaya 7.5 migration/integration/gateway/Aura, scenario...our friend gwebster is on track here with enterprise products though still open to any other feedback on any recent experiences with CPDC exposure's on card installs and upgrades ?

Cheers!!

I have installed a few of the CPMG setups in the 1010 cabinets with no issues on Rls 7.5. You could also go the CPDC/MGC path if you perfer. I have 1 of those running also.

What kind of connection cable are you using? I cannot put anything on TTY.
