Regarding FoxPro v. 2.6, I recently had a hard disk crash and found that my original program disk # 7 (1 of 7) is corrupt. Is there anyway to legally obtain a new set of program disks? These are at least 8 years old.

Yes, I had a back up but I also had a fire.

Any info would be appreciated

I applaud your interest in getting a legal copy of Foxpro.

Unfortunately, due to the 2.6 version having been "out of print" for many years now, your options are somewhat limited.

You can either look for a copy on eBay {of sometimes unknown legality} or to go to:

I hope you are successful. If not, or if we can help in any other manner, feel free to contact us.

Thanks JRB-Bldr
I will check ebay first and then check out the website you gave me. I appreciate your prompt response.

Sincerely,

I have the original disks but they do not add up to 7:
MS Foxpro version 2.6 (DOS) disk 1 - 5
MS Foxpro distrubution kit 1 - 3
What disk are you looking for exactly?

Rob

Rob,
The disks were numbered differently depending on whether you had 3 1/2" or 5 1/4" floppies.

Rick

Rick,

I don't think that's the case here.
There were 2 ways to get a professional version:

1 buy standard foxpro (5 3 1/2" disks ) and buy the distribution kit seperately (3 3 1/2" disks)
2 buy the professional version at once (7 3 1/2" disks)

I have the disks from method 1.

Rob.

Rob,
I stand corrected - I guess relying on my memory for these kinds of details isn't always a good thing. I dug deep into my floppy archive, and found that while FPD & FPW 2.5 came on both 5 1/4" and 3 1/2" floppies, 2.6 was made available on 3 1/2" and on CD.

Rick

And from this point on, burn all floppies to CD.
I use Disk Copy Fast (shareware) to make images.

Thanks all, for the information on getting replacement disks for foxpro2.6.
My disks are 3 1/2 " and there are a total of seven in the set. The disk assy numbers begin with 215-051-373 and run through 215-051-379.

But I also am now wondering if it will even run on Windows XP because I tried to install it and cannot even get beyond disk #1. I know there is nothing wrong with #1.

Anyway, thanks for the responses. Have not found any of these available on Ebay yet so I many just be s.o.l.

Yours truly,

Mike

Mike,
If this is FPW, then no, I don't believe you'll be able to. It's install uses the same loader that makes FPW fail on faster machines. (It's not an OS thing - just speed!)Install it on a "slow" machine and just copy the installed directory to the new XP machine. You can zip it up to multiple floppies with WinZIP, or if you're on a network just transfer the directory, or if you have a ZIP drive you can use on each, use it.

Rick

No problem with XP Mike, installs and runs well. All you need to do is shorten the "wait to print dos jobs" from 15 sec to 1 sec.

As you own, and have in your possession, a full set of original install floppies, I don't see any problem with someone allowing you to use their set to do an install.
Where are you? Perhaps someone local to you could help you out. As I say, you have the originals, and what you purchaced was the right to install and use the software on one computer. You did not buy the disks.
It's a fine line but I'd go for it.

Thanks again guys. I think that I might be able to get V2.6 from my old machine to the newer one now. I have an external cd burner that works on the old machine and the new computer has a RW CD/dvd drive. So maybe, by one method or another, I can it onto the new one.

Thanks for your time and courtesy.

Mike
