It's been some years since I used Unix (not SCO) and no longer have much reference material. To help solve a problem on a SCO 5.0 machine I need to know what cf -f does.

the commands used are:

cd BASE
mv LI LAFU
cf -f LI

This is something I do not remember in Non SCO unix.

Is there an online site that lists Commands etc?

Docs and man pages for SCO OpenServer 5.0.5-5.0.7 are here:

On a side note, my 5.0.7 machine doesn't have 'cf' nor does it know what 'cf' is.

Could it perhaps be a script or program from an installed software package?

Hi FlyingSnowman,
I recognised these commands and Welcome to LIFO

cd BASE
mv LI LAFUxxyyyy
cf -f LI
I have been told by the LIFO ~expert~ at Activant that
cf=create file
-f =force or overwrite an existing file.
I was looking for the same information and saw your post. Let me know if you find anything more (or more accurate)about it.
Thanks

Thanks Hemo and Todd for the responses. I could not find any listing of the commands on the web site. Will try calling SCO on Monday.

Hemo, I suspect you are correct that "cf" is a script as indicated by Todd's message.

Todd, will let you know what I find out next week.

Thought that this had to be you Bill I've not had any success with finding cf and command ' man ' doesn't know it exists so it is more than likely a script.

Later Todd

We were right it is probably an Activant Script.
Command structure is as follows:
cf [-b] [-c] [-d] [-f|-n] [-s] [-#] file [file...]
Parameters
-b background, no message to the screen.
-c list of store(s) for A/P, G/L & Payroll.
-d do not use default files.
-f force creation of file(s) if it already exists.
-h display this help.
-n create new files only
-s list subsytems & files.
