Hi,
Today I went to connect my USB Zip drive to my PC and the computer switched off completely. When I booted up again I got a keyboard error beep in Bios but windows started my USB keyboard no problem but couldnt find my mouse. When I switched the USB port the mouse was connected too I lost both devices...which is where I am at at the moment! So far I have tried...
Just the keyboard in all 5 USB ports.
Clearing the CMOS
Different Ring circuit in case I damaged the mains fuse.
Both the keyboard and Mouse work fine in a laptop so I know they are not damaged.
Since I reset the CMOS jumpers my computer just says press F9 to load default which I cant do since the Keyboard wont respond.
What I need to know is If I could have damaged the keyboard decoder but not enough that it would still be picked up by another(Newer) computer or if I have damaged the motherboard/USB controller??
I had this problem a few months ago except the then damaged keyboard wasnt picked up by another system so I replaced it!
Im not sure but seems like Im not getting enough current through my USB ports because the Numlock doesnt flash or anything when I boot.Is there a fuse between USB ports and the motherboard?
I dont have an serial/PS2 slots so I cant get a replacement keyboard without buying one..not a problem except the one I have at the moment seems to work?
Thanks in Advance
David
