In the near future I will be designing a database for a conference that our company will hold. This conference will allow people to come in groups and pay a special price for those groups. I am trying to figure out what will be the best way to capture those groups. I think a group might have 5 or fewer people. I want to be able to capture those groups as well as each person individually so at the registration desk at the conference if they come seperatly or if they come together--either way the registration will be quick and less painful :)

Any ideas would be helpful!

Probably there's lot of people out there to help you, (I will if my boss or kid don't interfere) but more info is needed:
* is there an invitation-list, so do you know in advance who is coming?
* what are 'groups'? Companys you invited, or guests who happen to bring there inlaws without telling you in advance?

If you are able to make a list of groups before people arrive, it won't be too difficult, otherwise you'll have to invent a way to create those groups and identify them later on. No panic, is probably possible too.

The database will contain a list of registrants. All of the registration will be done through this database. What will happen is that we will mail to the entire database letting them know that we are putting the conference on, then people will register. At that time some people will register in groups. We will probably set those groups to about 5 or less. I want to find a way to capture these groups together in the database as well as separatly.

If your table is already created with a list of potential registrants, add a couple additional columns (perhaps a checkbox to indicate if this individual is part of a group registrant and a second additional column for the name of the group they belong to.

I would create a form for this data entry and a report to view all groups by creating a query with the checkbox criteria set to true. Group by the group field.

Hope this helps.
