Hello there,
I'm not a technical user, & not a programmer of telecommunication so please bare with me. Our SX-50 is going nuts on us. Almost every few days the alarm would start going off, & as soon as we turn off the alarm, get a dummy incoming call, & then within 30 secs get another dummy incoming call. Please help. its driving us crazy as it happens every 5 minutes. My front desk staff is loosing patience and you know that translates into loss revenue. We have 4 lines attached to this system.

You really haven't given us much to go on. About all I can suggest you try is maybe unplug the thing from the wall (the AC power cord) then plug it back in. I doubt that's going to fix it, but may be worth a try.

If power-cycling doesn't fix it, you haven't much choice but to call the people who put it in or who you get service and support from. Probably going to cost you a few hundred bucks.

I'm trained on the SX50 but honestly its been at least 10 years or more since I've touched one. Do you have the maintenance manual for it? Probably not but if you did then just about any telecom shop could work on it. They're not too complicated.

first question is what is the alarm code, it may give a clue?
Second are you using ground start trunks?

Do the dummy calls come in on the same trunk number every time if so i have experienced this fault in the past and the way to clear it is to swap the polarity of the trunk that is recieving the dummy calls Ie the 2 wires that connect to trunk 73 swap them over and reconnect.

hope this helps

Good tip bobcheese. It's been so many years I completely forgot the trunks were polarity sensitive.

Was MS55 the final software for these?

the reason I ask if the trunks are grd start is swinging ground on the line will cause this exact trouble.
You can also swap the incoming line from one equipment number to another ie 73 to 78 and see if the trouble moves, if it does it is external to the switch, if not internal.
Again though what is the alarm, the SX-50 is trying to tell you what is wrong?????
MS55 was the final software and the last release we had was G07.18 it was quite stable, I had over 150 of them.
