Here's the situation. My boss has a sony Vio laptop, when he boots it up and logs into the domain, it takes about 5 minutes for it to load the profile, and run the logon script. After this first logon after boot, any other logon attempts are very fast, and have no problems. It seems to only be the first time the system logs on after boot. I have cleaned out all the offline files, deleted all in the temp folders, set the dns to point to our domain controller, ran all of the updates for xp, disk defrag. I can ping computer names on the network.

I am losing my mind here.. it seems that no matter what I do, it takes LONGER to log on each time I make a setting change. Anyone have any suggestions?

Slow Logon to Windows 2000 Domains

OK.. tried those... nothing.. I applied xp sp 2, and it did have an effect. Now, when logging on, it jumps right to the login script and the desktop. However, when booting up, "preparing network connection" display for about 3 minutes, then "applying computer settings" for another 2 1/2. My boss is very impatient, 30 seconds for a computer to boot is too long for him, hence my urgency to get this fixed. By the way, this is the only xp system showing these problems. Any other suggestions?
