Hi, great site
This is what happened: somehow I ruined the pc, I got the recovery cds from hp but they would format my pc (I had very important files), so I installed Windows XP Professional (I have original cds and license) on my pc but now I don't have the monitor installed. I can see images but I cannot reproduce videos. Also, when I drag a windows it does not go smoothly, it goes "jumpy". I went to the device manager but strangely "Monitors" does not appear. That is the strangest thing.
Please help me
Thanks in advance

(my monitor says "hp pavilion mx70")

Suggest you go to the manufacturer's site for your monitor and download the latest drivers for it, making sure that theya re XP compatible.

I downloaded the files but they're just "monitor definition files". They don't do nothing.
For what I know of monitors are "plug and play". What I need help is getting "Monitors" to appear on the device manager.
Right click 'My PC'>Properties>Hardware>Device manager and you should see '[+]Monitors'.
That's what I don't have.
Help please

There are native drivers for the MX-70 built into WinXP. try deleting the current drivers from the hardware profiles and let Windows search its driver database for the correct files as they are on the CD. it may be a problem with your video card and not with the monitor.. I'd try using a different card if you cant get the monitor to work properly using the native drivers.
