Need help with new motherboard.

Just purchased a Biostar M7VIW motherboard with a AMD Athlon 1600+ processor. This should have been a simple project for me. Took everything out of old computer ie.512SDRAM PC133 memory, 6 GIG IDE HDD, cd burner, and video card. Everything went into the new tower with 425watt power supply. Well, everything was put in fine, fixed one or two jumpers and flipped the switch looking for smoke signals. None here, looked at the monitor and nothing is coming up. Rechecked all connections, jumpers etc. Nothing, well, considering I am unfamiliar with "new" I went to the store and bought a AGP video card and plugged it in. Same thing...nothing. Everything spools up, HDD, CD-ROM floppy. Could a powersupply have anything to do with this? Also, Biostar doesn't have very much for "Tech-support". Anyhelp would be grateful. Hope I don't have to send back to Tigerdirect.

Thanks, ok, got a update... this morning, I restarted it and the postscreen came up. Then it froze. Restarted again, then nothing again. Restarted again, then the post screens come up, and before I can hit the F2 key, it begins to boot Windows, of course windows didn't like the new setup, and froze. No biggy, I was planning for that anyway. So, restart again. Nothing. It keeps doing the same thing. Everyonce in awhile, I will get the Biostar flash screen. Then it stops. Nothing works, ie F1,F2, DEL, etc etc. I tried the list on the link provided earlier. I had already done %99 of the list. Minus the things I had done yesterday, ie switch video cards etc. So, since the computer tried to boot once already, does this tell me that everything is working in retrospect? It sucks that Biostar doesnt have a Techsupport #.

Normally, one should reformat the HD and reinstall Windows after installing a new MB.
There are just too many new items for Windows to recognize when a new MB is installed that it can get confused.
But if nothing is showing on the screen at times during startup, then there's a hardware problem.

If you still have the old MB, CPU, etc., then reinstall everything as originally configured, and see if it boots.
If not, then look for a hardware problem.
If it boots, then back up all critical files, make a boot floppy(if you do not already have one), install only the new MB and CPU, power supply, case speaker, and power-on button, reset CMOS(usually with a MB jumper), and see if it beeps during startup.
If no beeps, then either the PS, MB, CPU, or CMOS battery is bad.
If it beeps, then install the memory.
If you hear the same beeps, then the memory or its slot is bad, or the memory is the incorrect type.
If it beeps differently, then install the video card and monitor.
If it beeps differently, then the video card is bad.
If you get no beeps and no display at this point, then the memory may be the wrong type.
If you get a display and a single beep, then connect the HD and configure it in BIOS, connect the FD and CD-ROM drives, format the HD, reinstall Windows, install the MB drivers, install the video card drivers, and connect/install all other cards/peripherals and their drivers one at a time.

As far as beeps go, i get none. Unless i self-induce them ie.removing cmos battery before boot. But like earlier, this does not beep at me. the computer just does nothing. At one time i did see the Nvidia splash screen pop-up, then the post screen pop-up. I seen the memory check was fine, it detected HDD and cdrom, and floppy then it started to boot window. But it has been doing the same thing after that. Nothing. the monitor will not turn on after bootup.

In this case I would do the following...

A. Remove all the on the mother board
B. Install only CPU, Memory, Power supply, and the video card
C. Reset the BIOS chip. (remove battery or through the jumper)
D. Then restart the system and see what you get.
E. Splash screen and a beep then a messaged that there is no Hard disk drive.
F. If you don't get anything at that point I would remove the video card and try again.
G. Turn system up and listen for a single beep or any beeps at all.
H. IF you hear something chances are that ther may be something wrong with the video card or the slot.
I. PCI card try a differant slot
J. AGP get a new board
K. If nothing then I would remove the memory from the system and reboot.
L. Listen for continues beeps the absence of memory will cause this to happen.
M. If you hear the beeps install the video card back in and reboot.
N. You should still hear the beeps if so then the memory is not compatible with your new board or it has gone out on you
O. If removing the memory does not cause any beeps at all with or with out the video card again chances are that the board is bad.
P. If by now there is no clear picture as to what hardware device is causing the problem I would return the board and get a new one.
Q. If all these test pass then you want to start install the rest of your devices (Hard disk, CD-Rom, etc.) one at a time until you get a problem again. I hope this helps.

If you install a new motherboard you should reformat the hard drive. Different hard drives need different drivers. Also microsoft XP may not like a different hard drive. It may take this change as a possible violation of its software license and assume it has been installed on multiple computers. XP can withstand just so many changes.
Might try a repair install. Did you try to boot from a floppy?
