Issue 1:

I have been unable to open any word documents sent to me as attachments with the name Questionnaire.doc. The message that pops up reads "Can't create file: Questionnaire.doc. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menue to check permissions for the folder." Nothing has worked in allowing me to open up these files.

Issue 2:

My Outlook clock is not set to the right time. It is about 10 minutes ahead of real time and I do not know how to reset this.

Thank you all for your time and assistance.

Thanks for your response. I have tried dragging to my desktop to save it there, I have tried right clicking the document and trying to open it, I have tried right clicking the document and saving it to my computer.

In case this is of any significance, I run an online business and I send out this questionnaire doc to many clients for them to fill out and return to me. For years I never experienced any problems, this has only begun occurring within the past 3 months or so.

Thanks for supplying those other links - I will take a look at them soon.

kjv1611,
I read through the links you gave me for my time problem, but unfortunately they did not address my specific problem. I will receive an email at 3:00pm, but the email will say I received it at 3:10. This has only been happening within the past few months so I'm figuring somehow Outlook's clock got out of sync with my computer's clock.

Thanks again for your help and forgive my ignorance.

with the name Questionnaire.doc.

Also, just to be sure, you're saying that if someone sends you a different file with a different name, then you can open it? Are you sure it isn't a security setting by your Antivirus or AntiSpyware or Hosts File or firewall, or Outlook Security?

And does that mean that if someone sends a file named "Zippideedoodah.DOC" to you, you can open that one with no issues?

Also, are you sure they the sender(s) are not now using a newer version of Word than you, and maybe that's causing the issue?

I am able to open different files with different names. I am not sure whether it is a security setting nor do I know how to go about determining if it is.

In response to your question, if someone sends me a file "Zippideedoodah.DOC" I am able to open this with no problems. In fact, I just sent myself an email with two word attachments of different names and had no problems opening them.

As for the senders, I cannot be 100% sure of their version of Word, but it would be statistically impossible for them all to have a higher version of Word than me.

Thanks again for your help!

I'm thinking it's got to be some sort of security setting. Try checking a few things:

Look at all the options under the Security tab in Outlook (Tools -Options - Security Tab)

If you have a firewall, try with it enabled and then disabled.

If you have antivirus installed (I'm just guessing you do), try with it enabled/disabled.

The same for any anti-spyware apps.

And then see if you can look around directly within Word's security settings as well.
