NEED HELP WITH ILLUSTRATOR PROBLEM ASAP

Hello I need help with illustrator cs4, I am making a Banner to be printed out so it has to be in vector file, Which is why I am using illustrator, anyways I have the Banner created except for one part I have a picture a raster image that I brought into my Banner, It originally had a white backround around the car, so i took it into photoshop and removed the background than saved it placed it in illustrator and embeded it which removed the background in illustrator, but when i run the live trace it runs fine and gives me a good result but it shows the white background again? How do I delete the background after livetrace? or is their a way to embed a live trace result, because than I could do the live trace than bring it into photshop and remove background than bring it back and embed it

Make sure you have EXPANDED the live traced image, then you can just select the Direct Select Tool and click on the white background and DELETE.

...the other available choice is to select "ignore white" in the trace options dialog...

...anything pure white becomes transparent with this option enabled...

...so you have to be careful with it if you need white to be white in the subject matter...
