I recently purchased an used IBM 4610 T12 from ebay. I have connected the printer to my computer with a 9 pin RS232. But the computer is not detecting the device. Are any drivers required for this printer on Windows XP?

Thanks in advance.

Almost surely you are going to need some drivers. Those printers are designed for POS I believe. Normally they aren't configured in the OS at all but configured in the POS software. Maybe post more info on what you are trying to do.

You can try to download the Windows XP drivers from the following website.

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/retail/poseng/4610/4610windrvxpb020400.exe

I also recently purchased a printer from ebay. Loaded the windows native printer drivers and can print test pages from windows applications. I haven't installed the POS software for my client yet but tried to set printing parameters refered in Printerbis5mst.pdf from ibm. Now, i can connect via hyper terminal and other serial com aps but the commands are not configuring printer. What am i missing? i tried running X'1336';8 commands but the printer just spits out x'1336';8 and never adds my settings. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks in advanced.
If your in New York and can figure this out. Drinks on me!
