I need to configure a Cisco 1720 router so that I can enable Microsoft VPN. I know I need to open port 1723, but that's all I know. What are the command?
Great questions. Unfortunately I don't know the answers. This situation is as follows: I'm helping a friend of a friend connect from home to their office. They have Cisco 1700 Series router and wanted a vpn from home to office. It was initially suggested that they do vpn from cisco box to some other router at home. But I thought if we could just open port 1723 and enable pptp, and then use MS vpn, it may have been the easier/cheaper route. So basically, I have never been on their router yet. I hope that helps. Please let me know if their are any othe questions I can answer. I really do appreciate your support.
Thanks.
Paul
The 1700 series router is probably running as a firewall with NAT and IP inspection. There will be an access-list on the Internet facing port. You will need to allow the pptp traffic through that ACL and also configure a route map to stop the VPN traffic being NAT'ed.
If you can get a configuration posted I can give you some help.
