I have a dell optiplex 2.8ghz 512mbram hooked up to a Dell 26" LCD tv. I would like an all in wonder card with all the bells and whistles but i mainly want to connect a cable box and use my computer as a DVR.
We need to know more about your Dell first. There is a service tag number on the back or bottom (says something like W77LT)...that'll let us know what parts are in the machine.
The best card on the planet will do little good if there's no slot to plug it into.
make sure you have a free AGP or PCI slot for the new video card, then read some reviews for video cards at an online vendor that sells computer parts, and lets buyers leave reviews.
No better way to make a decision than to read what people have to say about the product you are considering.
The more I learn, the more I know I don't know enough.

For those about to rock, we salute you.

To do PVR with your computer , check hauppage.com. They have either a PCI tuner card with MPEG2 encoder, or a USB2 decoder dongle that also come with software to make a PVR out of your PC. If it meets the requirements.
