Hello All,

I have an Avaya Cm5.2 running on Hp DL370 machine, recently we had an issue with the standby server and the duplication was not working. When I try to login to the web interface of the server it shows me as

SERVER STATUS

Cluster ID: ???
Duplication: sw
Standby Busied? no
Standby Refreshed? no
Standby Shadowing: off
Duplication Link: down
Standby RAID HDD Status: -1
Elapsed Time since Init/Interchange: 395d 01:28:28 (curbs in)

pbx1 pbx2

ID: 001 (1) ID: 002 (2)
Mode: Standby Mode: Active
Major Alarms: no Major Alarms: no
Minor Alarms: yes Minor Alarms: yes
Control Network: 0 / 0 / 0 Control Network: 1 / 1 / 1
Processor Ethernet: up Processor Ethernet: up
PE Priority: high PE Priority: high
Server Hardware: okay Server Hardware: okay
Processes: okay Processes: okay
RAID HDD Status: -1

We have tried everything but no luck, we changed the RAID settings and tried, reinstalled the CM, and finally changes the whole server and replaced with a new one still the issue persists.

Any one who has seen something like this before, What we havent tried though is to switch the Active Standby fearing that it will not come back up and this is really a critical system for us, any clues will be really appreciated.

Thanks

It would be difficult to help with only the data provided in the thread.

You need to look at your ethernet interfaces on both servers and post the settings and ip addresses
and make sure software duplication is turned on.

Did this work before you swapped the server out?
Did you manually configure the replacement server or restore it from a backup of the original server?

Sorry I could not find time to reply to this earlier.

1. Server Duplication Link
(Default: Ethernet 0)
2. Services Port
(Default: Ethernet 1)
3. Control Network A
(Default: Ethernet 2)
4. Control Network B
(Default: Ethernet 3)
5. Corporate LAN
(Default: Ethernet 4)
6. Processor Ethernet (PE)
(Default: Ethernet 4)

This is same on both the servers, Also the option This is a duplicated server using software-based duplication is selected.

Coming to your questions:

Did this work before you swapped the server out?
Because the old server was not working and gave the same display what I posted earlier we replaced that with a new server.

Did you manually configure the replacement server or restore it from a backup of the original server?
Yes we have manually configured the replacement server.

To clarify - You replaced the standby server?

Have you rebooted the active server yet?
From the server info you posted - Elapsed Time since Init/Interchange: 395d 01:28:28 -
... This is a long time.

Are both servers using the same Service Packs? They won't sync if they aren't.

We had a fear of losing the Active server if something went wrong, so we did not reboot the server. I am going to update the same patch and firmware and then try to do a interchange of the server and see what happens.

Thanks

run these commands from active server in linux and post output

server
lanconfig -q
pingall -a
