I have a Merlin Legend and IS-III voice mail system. The calls are going into an operator console. If no answer, it goes into the voice mailbox of the operator extension, not the Auto Attendant. The AA will not pick up no matter what the settings are for Night Service.

I tried to go into the System Programming/Switch Admin Menu and change the settings or extensions, but it always gives me errors such as :
-Removing AUDIXVP Extension 296 from DGC Froup 279
-Not a valid number
-Removing DGC Group 279 from Night Service Group for Attendant 200
-Not a valid number

The Automated Attendant - Night Service screens shows :
Channels : 0 1 2 3
Extensions : 296 297 298 299
Night Service Operator : 200

Not sure what all these 2xx numbers mean since my extensions are 15xx. Any suggestions?

When calls are sent to voice mail box of the operator phone, it goes to the mailbox that matches the operator phone extension, so just make the operator voice mail box an autoattendant rather than a regular mailbox. TipHelp@charter.net

If you make the operator mailbox an autoattendant, how do you give the operator a seperate mailbox of her/his own?

Make an adjunct mailbox for the operator. Put it on a cover button on the operator console. TipHelp@charter.net

Pepperz, thanks for the reply. But how do I make the operator mailbox into an auto attendant. I need the menus and selection features.

Any ideas about the errors I get when I do a Save on the admin menu.

Give the operator mailbox the class of servioce of an autoattendant, then you can get the options. I don't know what problems you are having on your admin save menu; Print out the system dial plan, and see just exactly what your extensions are, then you'll be able to manipulate them. If you are getting an erron in the Legend System Programming menu's then the numbers you are using are not true. TipHelp@charter.net

Pepperz, thanks for your help. I got the Auto Attendant to answer now. Extension transfers are also working. Now I just have to work on the voice prompts and menus.

Since I am having trouble with the Admin Menu to setup for Immediate answer mode, is there any other method for me to change the number of rings before the AA answers? Thanks.

Yep, under extensions, look for cover delay, and reduce the number of rings for the group cover of the operator's extension. TipHelp@charter.net

Great, I got it working by setting it to 1 rings. Couldn't set it to 0, but it is good enough.

Thanks a lot for your help, Pepperz. I really appreciated it.
