I am creating a database that will hold customer information and order information. I want to create a unique customer id using the first 3 letters of the last name and the last 3 letters of the first name. Can this be done if so how? Any help would be great.

What's wrong with using an Autonumber? Are you certain there will never be any duplicates with your desired expression? For instance, Jane Smith and Jan Smit?

I have a query pulling records that contain a participant_ID (unique to the person) a case number, and other information such as counselor, balance, etc. Each case number is a seperate record and one participant could have several case numbers, but only one counselor, balance, etc. I need a report that shows the participant, each case number for that participant, the participant's counselor, and balance. When I create a report for this information, I get one page for each case number so their is a lot of repitition. I need to consolidate on one page. Any help would be appreciated.

cjany,
Please start your own thread. When you do this, try to post more information about your tables.
