hi everyone,
i have intalled a western digital 80-g hard drive on a new machine. however it's showing up as a 32-g drive. the other problem is that my cd drive (creative 52x as drive e:)somehow is retaining the file directory from the previous cd. for example, i can take the cd out and go to explorer and list e:'s content, and shows all the files. and if i put another cd in, it shows the files from previous cd. is my pc going senile? or what?

Regarding the hard drive, have you checked the jumper configuration as a lot of drives can be configured with a 32Gb clip (this is done with the jumpers) which limits the drive to 32Gb. Also how is the cd drive configured?

1. Can your computer map large drives? you may need a boot overlay program. Should of come with the drive.
2. had this same problem with a CD. Turned out CD was bad. Problem fixed when i put in a new drive.
