Heres the Scenario...

2 Windows XP service pack 2 computers.

TCP/IP Protocol

One computer is being used has a gateway.... 2 Network cards... one for DSL service the other for home network.

The network is up and running.... can actively share and transfer files.

But for some reason... I can't seem to share the DSL connection over the network!

The gateway computer uses a PPPOE adapter to connect to the internet over a 100 Mbit Ethernet card

I have tried multiple things to make it work... but for somereason it will not.....

I am using a "dlink" 5 port switch to run the network. I have disabled all firewalls.

Am i missing a configuration setting somewhere or something?

Can the gateway use the DSL?
What is your IP scheme and is it static or DHCP?
Is the gateway setup to forward packets to the internet?
Are you using a proxy?

And why would you have 2 nics in the XP box if you have an adsl router with a 4 port switch module?

Yes the gateway computer Has access to the internet via the first network card.

I have two cards because I need one for the DSL...
The other for the Internal network

The switch is just a repeater... its not a router

I want the gateway computer to serve as a DHCP.... using Microsoft's' "Internet Connection Sharing"

I have no proxy... all software firewalls have been disabled

I do not have a ADSL Router Just the ADSL "Modem"

Its ok though.... I believe that I have a corrupted Registry File... for some reason Windows Won't let me enable "Internet Connection Sharing" So I am going to format and reinstall.

im not sure if you have a budget here... but you can get an ADSL router for next to nothing, infact most isps will give you one for free. Get an ADSL router... even better, get a wireless one!

It's fixed

It WAS a corrupted Registry File and/or Files.

No need to get a router.... Switch is working just fine... besides Switched route the traffic faster... just use a firewall program.

All wireless network traffic can be EASILY hacked into.
Something I wish to avoid

All wireless network traffic can be EASILY hacked into."

How??? Maybe no WAP key set up or something...

A firewall won't protect you from everything. Firewalls (especially software firewalls) are easily compromised. You'll never notice a difference between a router utilizing processed switching and a switch, but glad it's working...
