Hi all,

I need to know what needs to be done on an HP-UX 10.X system to have a queue print from tray 2 pn a HP 5si. I have checked sam and jetadmin for an option, but nothing. I also looked in the filter (/var/spool/lp/interface/queuename) but there is nothing in there either. Any ideas??

Thanks!!

If you have jetadmin loaded see the man page for the 5si, net_lj5x. Man pages are probably below /opt/hpnp/man, put that in your MANPATH. So, from this, use "lp -otray2 <file_name>" to print using this tray. I've also set up a separate printer queue to by default use B size paper we keep in the second tray (that is really labeled tray 3). For that I created a second queue for the printer, then edit the file /etc/lp/interface/model.orig/<printer_queue_name>, and change the line 'paper="def"' to read 'paper="11x17"', at line 537 on my system. For other printers I've edited that file & changed the line 'mediasrc="def"' to 'mediasrc="2"' or some other number to set a default tray number. I have not found this documented anywhere!

I know what you mean about not finding it documented anywhere! Thanks, I'll try this and let you know how it worked.

Thanks again!!!

Steve

Worked like a charm!

Mediasrc="1" will be tray 2
Mediasrc="2" will be tray 1

Thank you!
