dear friends,

my system is infected with the virus folder.htt and desktop.ini. the mcafee antivirus installed in the machine shows this virus as vbs@redlof.

after running the antivirus software. the folder.htt and desktop.ini files are found in each and every folder present in the system.

how to get rid of this.

please help me

folder.htt and desktop.ini are perfectly normal windows files.

They are the customisation files for the folder views in Windows Explorer. vbs/redlof infects these rather than creates them. If McAfee reports them as clean they should be ok.

just curious to know how you were infected by a 2 year old threat using a now closed exploit.

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?

thank you for the reply chris.

I am using my system for internet purpose. my friends has disabled the antivirus software. after serious infection i found the problem.

thank you friend.
