Have a Toshiba Satellite with Winxp with a Realtek
RL 8139 ethernet and a Atheros AR5005g wireless
adapter. Short story one day able to get Internet,
next day not able to get on internet. Have not made
any changes or add any application in a long time.

This is what I've done:
1. Used Ping and tracert commands, and with Winxp
used the repair command results were all time-outs.
2. Used Toshiba Carefree utility, results were
time-outs.
3. Used the DSL modem with my desktop, moden works
fine with the desktop.
I have 2 questions:
1. With this Toshiba, are the adapters
part of the mother board or are they removable.
2. If they are removable, any tricks on taking the
bottom/back off.

Any help or ideas will be appreciated.

I'm sure a laptop nic card is integrated. your best bet is to get your hands on a PCMCIA card from a friend or someone at work either wireless or wired for your laptop and slide it and see if you can connect that way.

Have you tried pinging 127.0.0.1 to see if it is the network card and not the cable itself?

Have you tried another cable?

127.0.0.1 works, got 4 good replys. Also

used the cable from the desk-top, still fails.
