HELP SOMEONE IF YOU CAN......

You are positively eaten up with spyware.

Just a wild guess but is the problem caused by having your SHIFT key stuck down?

My shift key is definitely up......and I do have Norton antivirus but I cant update it because of the internet explorer to get rid of the spyware.......but I will download the other programs and hope that works as well

I don't understand how not being able to get IE to access the net causes a problem with updating Norton.

Use LiveUpdate within Norton. It doesn't use IE to connect to anything. It manages all by itself.
If Norton can't connect then the problem is elsewhere and not with IE.

When you try to open a webpage with IE, what actually happens?

If you look at the poster's log, you can see that they are terminally infested with malwares. Norton is NOT going to solve their problem. Many malwares are capable of disabling AV tools in order to assure their longevity.

The FAQ posted is a tried and true walkthrough for malware cleanup. diggy has it bad, but it is recoverable.

Windows freezes/hangs

Recently I began having problems with Windows on my machine(P4 3.2 Mhz, 1Gb, XP SP1, IE 6.0)were frequently when I click (right or left) in a window the window freezes and when I try to exit out or kill the window it shows that it is not responding. When I finally kill the window the rest of the session (before I reboot) windows is vey sluggish and becomes agonizingly slow. Many times when attempting to reboot it hangs on trying to end a non exitisting IExplore process and once I got a message "MCI command handling windows" ??
After a reboot it function properly until the next window freezes.

I have reloaded IE 6.0 and run regsvr32 with urlmon.dll, Shell 32.dll.......... I have also run Ad Aware and Norton antivirus.

Any suggestions
