Hi

I am new to SQL Server. And I have two databases on two different servers. I have SQL server 2000 on one server and SQL Server2005 on another server. How do I move the data in one table on SQL Server 2000 into the same table on 2005. And I access both the SQL via. the Remote Desktop on my XP.

I would suggest creating an SSIS package in SQL 2005 to pull the data.

Hello guys,

Thanks for ur reply. But I'm fairly new to this. So can one of you suggest me the easiest way and be specific how to do it. Your help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Rahul

Oh, and I didn't know Doctor Doolittle (PushMe-PullYou) works for Microsoft?

By the way these two servers are no way related. Is it still possible though?

Hi Denis,

When I do
Rt click --> all tasks -->export data it gives me a wizard...that prompts for the source and destination of the table... but what do i have to select as the source ... i mean what type of connection do I have to choose from the drop down...coz i was able to select the server and the database but i'm not sure of what the source connection type is... how do i resolve this....

also as I'm using sql server 2000 on my source i tried selecting the sql server driver for my source and wen i did the same for the destination i dont find my destination server in the drop down... is it because both the servers are different.... and if i manually type my server name and wen i try to select the database name it gives me some exception.... Please help...

Thanks

Rahul
