Need help - I can't ping BEFSX41 gateway WAN public ip address

I am trying to setup two BEFSX41 VPN gateways to talk to each other.

Currently each end has LAN computers that are able to access the net through the gateways using private IP's and gateway mode.

The problem is that when trying to set up VPN link I am unable to ping the public IP of the other BEFSX41's WAN address.

I can tracert all the way through and even ping the internal public IP of the ADSL router but not the BEFSX41's WAN IP!

Should I be able to?

what I'm trying to find out is - does the gateway block you from pinging it's WAN public IP from the internet when set in gateway mode?

If Block WAN requests is enabled, yes.

Thanks I'm able to ping each VPN gateway's WAN IP from the other side.
